Were helping a friend to test install an older Need for Speed game, with the title "Porsche Unleashed". It's now 23 years old game, back from year 2000. Back when Sisqó had the "Thong Song" hit, Macy Gray "I Try" and Britney Spears with her "Oops!... I Did It Again". And movies like eg. "Gone in 60 Seconds", "American Psycho", "Cast Away" and "Memento" had premiere in the cinemas.

My friend has Glaukom, so in recent years, he has some trouble with the newer racing games. They usually are much faster, plus when racing, there's a lot of details around him along the racing path. Plus new games usually also has a lot of fancy menus with tiny fonts. And it's more the rule that you can't change font or font size. So you are not able to change much.
With all that said, I hope game developers will make it more easier for players to change font size, and some other things. Some games like (I think) PUBG and Warzone also has some options for colorblind or other eye issues.

But this game with it's simple graphic, and not too many things going on along the racing track/street (like eg. pedestrians, trashcans etc.) make it a bit easier for my friend to drive, and not get too confused with high speed and lots of details that kind of gets blurry for him.
Game are still okay, even thou very old in history of game releases. It has a lot of atmosphere with the sounds from gravel (in the woods), dogs or cats barking when driving past a city, houses or old french castles. Also some seaguls sounds from around the harbor. And birds chirping in the country sides.

On the negative side, is that the Porche car very easily can spin around 180 or 360 in corners. And you have almost no control to correct the car back up again. But if you are a racing car fan of that genre, and are good at handle even difficult cars, then the game are okay. Or you should yourself struggle with some details in modern racing games due to high speeds, details, and tiny fonts, like my friend, then this game could be a solution.

To get this game working on Windows 10, were kind of a struggle.

-Download the game, patch etc. from:

And then follow these steps (BTW: Read the readme files from the websites or packages, for details for each step)
-Install Daemon Tools Lite to mount the bin file (like ISO files, it's a true copy of the CD)
-Install the game on custum without the Auto Update (cancel it in the end)
-Copy the "Porsche Unleashed complete patch" into the install drawer
-Install NGlide and run it (to make the game run in full screen on 1920x1080, or maybe even higher if gfxcard, and monitor are able)
Install the 3.5 Patch (Need-for-Speed-Porsche-Unleashed_Patch_Win_EN_Patch-35)
- Right click the icon on the desktop, go to the "Compatibility" tab, and select "Run in compatibility mode for Windows Vista SP1"
-Fix (copy the fix from myabandonware.com into the install drawer)
-Mod (copy this mod from myabandonware.com, to get missing cars)

Sorry if I have one or two of the steps in wrong order, but this was hard to install. And I just got it right suddenly by trial and error. But I will maybe edit the steps later, if I one day double check it. Otherwise you have now some guidelines to also do some trial and error, and perhaps get it right eventually.
