Zoo Tycoon - Ultimate Animal Collection (05.10.2023) 02. Zoo are getting bigger
Continue playing my costum Sandbox Zoo. Both adding new animals, but also experimenting with theories I had. Had a theory about, if I added two different animals together; one were eg. a mammal and other one a predator, the game wouln't let me do that, since it's a family game. And it seemed that I were right.

It were a Suri Alpaca, I were trying to add to the jaguars, but it said they were not compatable (at 00:05:33 ). But found out later on, it's possible to mix two different animals thou within the same animal group. In other words, two different animal that are staying in same habitat, have to be in same family (have same ancestor). Like when I in 00:43:01 I add some Guanaco's to the Llamas already in a habitat. That was acceptable for the game, since they have same ancestor.

Later on, I try to experiment mixing some Bears together. I could see in the zoopedia, that Grizzly Bears could even sometimes eat Brown Bears. But the game let me put those two kind of Bears together for some reason. (Update: they eat American Black Bears, not brown bears. So the bears added are companions, and not food :-) )

If eg. two Bear have exactly the same prefered habitat needs, then they can be mixed together. But if one Bear have slightly other prefered habitat then the other, then it's happiness will not reach maxmum I think. Eg. Grizzly Bears prefer Alpine habitats, but Formosan Bear prefer temperate forest. If they are mixed in say a Alpine habitat, Formosan Bear would think it's a bit cold. And would prefer a bit more green threes and nature in the habitat. I can keep an eye on the mixed Bear habitat next time, to see if my theory are correct. But think the Formosan Bear would seem slightly more unhappy than the Grizzly Bear, because they prefer a bit warmer and greener habitat, than an Alpine habitat.

Little by little in the game, I give the animal the right habitat they prefer. And look in the Zoopedia about what they prefer. So I get healthier and happier animals. And more visitors.

Could be nice, if the various task in the game were more intuitive IMHO.
And be more detail-oriented when eg. upgrating a feeding station. Say Level 1 (Feed 2 animals), Level 2 (Feed 4 animals) aso. So you're not guessing all the time.

00:32:23 Some guest passing me by, didn't seem happy. Do I need to either add more toilets or more animals? Hard to say, when you can't communicate with them. All you can do, is to look at the news, to get a feeling about how people feel about your Zoo.

02:25:22 Rename the Jaguars Habitat, to have the "Jaguar" added. Easier eg. if breeding center send a staff member out.
02:34:01 I still mess up "Animal care" and "Enrichments". In my head, I want to add water to the animals. That should be "Animal care" IMHO, if they both bath and drink the water.
02:49:17 Saving as Krusty Sandbox Middle Zoo.
