It remains uncertain whether Northern Ireland will receive additional funding from the UK government to address the issue of crumbling concrete in public buildings, particularly Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (Raac). While the government in England has committed to spending "whatever it takes" to ensure the safety of school buildings affected by Raac, the Department of Finance in Northern Ireland has not confirmed any additional funding. Currently, approximately 120 schools in Northern Ireland are undergoing surveys to assess Raac's presence based on their age and construction type. Additionally, all six Further Education (FE) Colleges in Northern Ireland are checking their campuses for Raac use, with some confirming its absence, while others continue their surveys.
