Here's a unique little arcade exclusive racing game developed in-house by Gaelco in 1996 (distribution was done by Namco America for the United States release).

Speed Up is like a mixture of Ridge Racer, Daytona USA, and SEGA Rally but with one key gameplay element: elimination. Yep it's an eliminator style of racing game in which the car in the last position gets eliminated every lap, so my tip is: STAY AHEAD OF LAST PLACE. You can race up to 7 other AI cars depending based on the game's service menu which can be adjusted to the player's preference. Speed Up has only three race tracks spanning from Beginner (Barcelona Down Town), Advanced (Twisting Rock & Road), and Expert (Tex-Mex Circuit) as well as eight selectable cars. You do also have to shift between High and Low gears since this game does not have an automatic transmission, it does on the other hand help with car speed.

This game does have some issues in terms of emulation on MAME 0.260 which can be seen in this video and I used an Xbox One controller to steer.

Now if you are having issues with the steering whether using a controller, wheel, or the keyboard for Speed Up, here is what I do:
- Start the Speed Up rom and then pause the rom (by pressing the P key). Then press the Tab key, go to Input Settings and enter the Toggle Inputs section.
- In the Toggle Inputs section, if the "P1 Button 2" is set to ON, switch it to OFF. This should help some steering issues with the game.

You might also want to mess around with the Analog Input Adjustments section to if you're using a PC steering wheel as well.
