For anyone who has played the games before they will know that the games always take place in a fictional land with the heroes fighting the Black Hole army. While semi serious the games often take themselves very lightly. This game takes a noted change from the earlier games. A much darker plot is the result in which most of the worlds population has been wiped out due to meteor showers. Now humans much deal with military factions who are trying to rule over them. Combat is very similar to the earlier games. Notable changes are removal of some units such as the stealth bomber. CO units also play a lot less of a major role. Commanders now instead ride in a vehicle and increase that units stats when they do and also increase the stats of nearby units. Units also gain experience as a result of successful kills making them able to rank up three times. With each rank their attack and defense increase a little. New units appear as well such as new types of artillery units. The game maintains the feel and play style of advance wars while taking a new take on the series. Map editor, challenges modes, multiplayer modes and other choices give decent replay value. Personally I like this game a lot. Anyone who is a fan of strategy games or the advance war series will likely enjoy this game a lot.
