I'm a very big fan of classic retro style games so Contra 4 fits this perfectly. Playing it and doing this review for Contra 4 was a lot of fun. Opening scenes is your classic style Contra with this being a direct sequel to the other games. Another alien invasion has started so it is up to our heroes to go Rambo style on them to stop the onslaught. The gameplay is exactly like all of the oldschool games dating back to the first one. You have none stop run, gun and shooting to take down wave after wave in enemies. They come in a large variety with guns, grenades, helicopters and other weapons. Boss fights are difficult along with being hectic but still a great deal of fun. The use of dual screens is a nice addiction too since it gives you a wider range of view to see where enemies are coming from. For anyone who is a fan of the Contra series or old school shoot them up you will enjoy this a lot. A wide variety of multiple weapons makes it fun as well along with spread shot, quick, missile, homing shot, shields and many other weapons. I have no real complaints about this game aside from the fact that I'm not especially skilled at Contra myself as you can tell from this review, heh. There are a ton of bonuses to unlock including comics, extra characters. interviews and other little extras to find. A variety of difficulty modes make this a lot of fun as well.
