Previously, the party continued the Battle Phantasm competition at the Coliseum in Rakkaran. They cleared the Infinite Seaweed bout against the Sea Breeze Diva, the King Kelp, and the Wailin' Weed; the Vicious Flying Dragons bout against the Red Flying Dragon, the Blue Flying Dragon, and the Yellow Flying Dragon; and the "Fear! Huge Weapons of Murder" bout against the Überkilling Machines and the Super Killing Machine. They will now suffer through the last two bouts to conclude this game.
Rakkaran (time 0:30):
The party resumes in the church in Rakkaran, the Island of Entertainment.
They enter the Coliseum at B-6 in the southwest of town. On floor 1F, they talk to Clive at D-4/D-5.
They undertake the ninth bout against the Three True Legendary Demons (真・伝説の三悪魔). The opponents are the Soul of Baramos (バラモスブロス), the Bones of Baramos (バラモスゾンビ), and the King Hydra (キングヒドラ), Zoma's guardians from Dragon Quest III. Each of these three would be a challenge on its own. Putting them together is downright unfair. The Soul of Baramos hits hard and uses a lot of magic and Scorch. It also has a dance that can charm multiple party members. Its ground pound attack deals about 400 points of damage to everyone, and I believe it can knock party members down. The Bones of Baramos breathes C-c-cold Breath and uses status breath attacks. It also hits extremely hard. King Hydra also uses Scorch, C-c-cold Breath, and status breath attacks, and it spits a series of fireballs that deals a ton of damage. When its heads talk to each other, it psyches up to max tension, which should be dispelled immediately. Its five-strike head attack hits random targets in the party. The King Hydra also has Disruptive Wave.
Status protection is a must for this battle. Bring a generous supply of Yggdrasil Leaves and Yggdrasil Dew. My party took down the Soul of Baramos first, followed by the Bones of Baramos, and finally the King Hydra. However, getting rid of the King Hydra first may make more sense, considering its damage output and use of Disruptive Wave. Regardless of the order you take, though, this battle can be a slog.
The party finishes this bout in 186 moves. Any battle you can walk away from! The party earns 4 Seeds of Magic (ふしぎなきのみ), 4 Seeds of Sorcery (まりょくのたね), and 4 Seeds of Therapeusis (しんこうのたね).
The party divvies up their new stat seeds. Then, they save with the priest in the Coliseum. They also brew up some more Yggdrasil Dew for the final bout.
The party talks to Clive again (time 49:17). They undertake the tenth and final bout against the Dark Nebulus (ダークネビュラス). The eponymous opponent is the Dark Nebulus (ダークネビュラス). This fierce mechanical wyrm is no lightweight. It has very high attack power and defence. It can act twice per round. Its Missile attack can reduce each party member's HP to single digits. Its Tremor attack deals high damage to the entire party, but at least it seems not to inflict knockdown. Its Black Breath deals high dark damage to each party member. As if that weren't bad enough, it can call for backup and summon a Mechan-o'-wyrm (メカバーン) into the battle.
Each party member with a shield should use Aegis Protection if possible. This will give them a little added protection and prevent Missile from lowering their HP to single digits. Insulatle is also a must to protect against the dreaded Black Breath. Fura's Saint's Wind is also a lifesaver. Each summoned Mechan-o'-wyrm should be dispatched as quickly as possible. If you can, take advantage of Hero's Light for a reprieve to let loose on the Dark Nebulus.
The party finishes this bout in 158 moves.
An event takes place after the battle (time 1:23:28). The party earns 4 Seeds of Strength (ちからのたね), 4 Seeds of Resilience (まもりのたね), and 4 Seeds of Deftness (きようさのたね). Clive congratulates the party for their victory. However, I'm sure he is now urging them to keep at it and defeat these fiendish foes in as few moves as possible for better prizes. The best prize is available if the party clears the competition within a combined total of 500 moves. Sorry, Clive, but no. Maybe if Square-Enix puts in the effort to release the game in English, I will put in the effort to improve my time in this competition.
The description is continued in the comments.
