First of all, let's address the elephant in the room: it's no secret that Evil West takes heavy inspiration from God of War.
But don't let that fool you into thinking that it's a cheap knock-off.
The core gameplay may have been borrowed, but Evil West builds upon God of War’s ideas to create a game that stands on its own and offers a unique and exciting experience.
One of the standout features of Evil West is its combat system. Nearly every button on the controller commands a different weapon or ability, all with separate cool-down timers.
You would think that this would be overwhelming, but the game teaches you how to manage the chaos by gradually introducing weapons throughout the course of the game.
You start off with just one or two actions, but by the last chapter, you’re an unstoppable force with seemingly infinite combat options at your fingertips, including ranged and melee weapons, special abilities, and powerful finishers.
Evil West goes all in on one concept: extreme, over-the-top action. And, man, does it succeed.
It’s a thrilling and immersive game that is definitely worth checking out for fans of action-adventure games like God of War.
