Let's Play Might and Magic VI! Part 74 - What a load of bull
Recorded on 10/30/2021
Today we start with Light Magic. The plan was to get Day of the Gods, and not only did I get that for both casters I picked up Hour of Power for Tyrin and Sun Ray for Mayfair. Honestly though, picking up Light spells for Tyrin and Sun Ray at all wasn't much actual value.
Started up the Pedestal quest next. Guy in Blackshire wants us to place statuettes on five pedestals scattered about Enroth. He specifically tells you which one goes where, but you don't need to remember that at all as the correct one will be placed if you have it and just click on the thing. Pedestal in Mire of the Damned is easiest to reach from the Beacon we have set up, while the rest of them I'll have to hunt for.
Hunting in Kriegspire is fortunate since I clear out the Minotaurs and Earth Elementals leading to Castle Kriegspire, our next destination in the Oracle Quest. Castle Kriegspire is an interesting maze of corridors filled with Minotaurs, Abominations, and Drakes. I expected this place to take me much longer to clear out, but I actually managed to complete it in a single session.
Castle Kriegspire has an... interesting design centered around four large "arenas" that are monster spawn traps if you step into any of them from the ground floor. Also large rooms with many Drakes clustered into a single area. These are fairly troublesome, more so than the other two monsters in here.
Exploring around allows me to find the closet that contains Lurch: a unique Minotaur King that has 2000 HP. He's quite nearby the Memory Crystal that we're after, as well. And for some reason it's incredibly easy to get to, so in actuality we had zero need to clear this place out. Still do it, anyways. Good experience in here.
Also picked up a Relic! It's not all that great, though, so I'm not planning on using it, but it'll still fetch a pretty good sum. You can't Golden Touch relics, so you have to hand it to your best merchant and hope to get a good value out of selling it.
Finishing out by hunting down the rest of the pedestals. Kriegspire and Bootleg Bay are fairly easy to reach, but Dragonsand and Sweet Water are harder to actually reach; one is past a ton of dragons, while the other is located on the final overworld map of the game, populated by Devils.
Completing the Pedestal quest nets me a bunch of money, some rings, an enchantable weapon, and a pretty decent piece of armor. I'm a little disappointed that reward didn't include any artifacts of relics.
