Why is it rare you will see me stream any Zelda games/review (Read description)
Hey, guys. You do know I live stream mostly classic games, whether it's from Nintendo itself or 3rd-party titles you never see the former return back on emulators. But, there is one series that I have been holding back, and it is the Legend of Zelda series, and I will explain why. The video shows what games I physically own, although I have experienced a few others such as the NES original from 1987.
The reason is this series, though I do love Mario and Pokémon, two other mainstays, is actually special to me, as it is my favorite among Nintendo, and one certain game proves it. Unlike most other games, if I stream a Zelda title, almost certainly I would need multiple streams in split sections for any of its games due to how lengthy they are, if I decide to do full playthroughs; With the exception of the very first game on the NES, I can't beat Zelda in one sitting.
Zelda just feels unique to me. I highly enjoyed the story, gameplay, music, and I do like nature and adventures. I feel like most of the classic titles aged well (except the NES titles). There's something about this series that not even Pokémon could match.
Below is my personal review of the four games I have:
𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁: Also known as "Triforce of the Gods" in Japan, this was made in 1991, and is the title that debuted the mighty Master Sword (and few others like the Hookshot or the proper sword swing). This is the 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 Super NES game among my 36 I owned that wasn't originally bought by my father as a kid, as I got this in recent years from eBay. But, long before I finally have the original copy, I had already experienced and beaten LTTP multiple times in emulators, including Virtual Console, so I knew what to do. But playing this in authentic SNES hardware is definitely the best, especially when beating the game the first ever time on that, after waiting for about 20 years. This to me is indeed the best 2D Zelda, and despite its hard difficulty, while retaining the original NES game's format, this is one masterpiece that will keep you pumping the whole way, as it has a 𝘭𝘰𝘵 of dungeons, great music, and a unique setting among two worlds that set the template for the next one on the list. This is my 3rd favorite Zelda.
𝗢𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲: 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨...this game, is the true king of games in my book. Not only this is my #1 favorite game of all time, but OOT is also known to be the greatest video game ever made, according to reviews, to this day (though the younger generation won't agree, as they perfer Breath of the Wild)! Made in 1998, this N64 game is what introduced me to Zelda and it was worth it. Almost everything about this game was perfect. There's no denying how much effort the developers did in trying to put in all the references of the older 2D games before it as much as they could then transitioned it all into 3D, and the game altogether set the standard for 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 Zelda and other 3D adventure games since! Though it shows its age now, the gameplay and story stayed very strong. Play this game and tell me why it's not the best Zelda. I seriously wish I experience Master Quest though, as the game is easy to me, now. "Hey! Listen!"
𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿𝗮'𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗸: Yeah, this was a major twist compared to the previous game. Made in 2000 (make sure you have the Expansion Pak), this is the sequel to Ocarina of Time, taking place a bit of time later. It has about everything that made me love OOT because the gameplay is retained, though MM is harder, and the story, boy was it dark - scarier than Twilight Princess. I admit, the doomsday 72 hour time limit and having only 4 dungeons is a real nuisance, but it's still a masterpiece. Let me tell you, Majora's Mask is more dangerous than Ganon, because it's literally a psychopath that thinks nothing but global destruction. And, what's truly sad about this game is, just like OOT, Link saving the world, was all a waste of time, as once again his events was erased in the ending. Remember Back to the Future's message! Oh, Fierce Deity Link is epic as heck. This is my 2nd favorite Zelda.
𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿: Probably the most controversial Zelda. Made in 2002, this Gamecube title confused me as a kid. Though its gameplay is like the N64 games, the story and graphics was an incredibly dramatic turn. No longer featuring the Link from the 20th Century games but rather his descendant and so on, this is responsible for the Hyrule Historia thing which I 𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝗢𝗧 believe at all (just as nonsense as Pokémon's Pokédex size readings). Nevertheless, looking back, this is what introduced Toon Link, if not Four Swords' artwork. It still is a great game and is my favorite post-Hero of Time Zelda game, though much too easy. I also have the remake WW HD for the Wii U.
I do own Soul Calibur II as well, which featured the legendary classic Link (as in the first two Smash games), but I can't show this nor WW due to my 2018 crisis that prevented from ever doing so until I get adapter replacements for my Gamecube.
