Zelda: Majora's Mask Playthrough #006, Clock Town: Lifting Link's Curse; Gathering Rupees
This is video #006 in my Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask playthrough. I apologize if the sound and picture are out of sync during this clip.
After playing the Song of Time, Link finds himself back in front of the clock tower at dawn on the first day. The Song of Time will make the game much more manageable.
Another useful song is the Inverted Song of Time, which is the Song of Time played backwards. This nifty song will slow the flow of time and give Link more time to do things before he has to reset time again.
Back in the clock tower, Link talks to the mask salesman. The salesman seems quite happy that Link got his precious item back. He teaches Link the Song of Healing. The song lifts the curse from Link. The curse takes the form of the Deku Mask. This mask will enable Link to become a Deku Scrub at will, which will be needed to get through the game.
However, the mask salesman is not at all pleased that Link did not get the mask back from the Skull Kid. That mask is Majora's Mask, and it is not safe in the Skull Kid's hands. He begs Link to get the mask back. Of course, it's not like we'll win the game any other way.
So, now it's time to start saving the world again. There is a bit of optional stuff available now that Link is Hylian again. In the Laundry Pool, he should grab the Stray Fairy and return it to the Great Fairy Fountain in North Clock Town. When restored, the Great Fairy of Magic thanks Link. It turns out that the Skull Kid has broken up the other Great Fairies around the world. She gives him the Great Fairy Mask, which will attract loose Stray Fairies in the area to Link. This will prove quite helpful.
As a Hylian, Link can now collect Piece of Heart #02 (time index 14:50) in North Clock Town. He must use ledges to reach the tree where the Heart Piece is located.
Next, it is time to start collecting Rupees to put into the bank. A quick way to gather Rupees is to kill the big Dodongo in the north of Termina Field. They drop 50 Rupees a pop. The smaller Dodongo does not drop as many Rupees, unfortunately. The hole in the ground nearby will allow Link to leave the area and return to make the Dodongos respawn.
The purpose of Rupee collection is to obtain rewards from the bank. When Link has deposted 200 Rupees, the teller will give him the Adult Wallet, which can hold up to 200 Rupees (time index 23:55). Nice!
After making another big deposit, Link heads to South Clock Town and strikes the owl statue (time index 31:15). This causes the statue to open its wings, and it will allow Link to make a temporary save.
Unfortunately, when the owl save is restored, the owl save is deleted, leaving behind the "permanent" save from the last time Link played the Song of Time. This means that Link will start with zero Rupees, zero arrows, and whatnot. This is the only aspect of this game that annoys me. There is a way around this, if you are willing to sacrifice the save in your other save file. To keep your owl save, just make a copy of it to the other save file.
Thanks for watching!
