Is the Resident Evil 4 remake as good as the original?
RE4 is considered one of the greatest games of all time.
Remaking it was risky, because if there’s one thing gamers hate, it’s when companies mess with their favorite game in an attempt to milk it for money.
On the bright side, Capcom's track record with remakes has been great.
This new take on Resident Evil 4 is definitely darker in atmosphere and less zany than the original.
They’ve gone for a more grounded and realistic approach, but they kept just enough over-the-top action and one-liners to make it feel authentic and not too much of a departure.
The environments are incredible. They maintained the general feel of a lot of the iconic set pieces, but they dialed the details up to 11.
The new combat feels super modern and fluid and there’s still a good bit of challenge.
Also added are new puzzles and encounters (which helps to freshen up the experience for RE4 veterans).
It’s a perfect blend of old and new: faithful to the original while also bringing in fresh elements.
It’s definitely worth checking out, whether you're a fan of the original or not.
