KH 358/2 Days Playthrough #169, Day 358 M93, The Final Mission: Riku; Final Scenes and Credits
This is video #169 in my Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days playthrough. True to Xion's request, on Day 358, Roxas is ready to barge into the Castle that Never Was and liberate Kingdom Hearts. This is Mission 93, the final mission of the game. Thanks to Xion's power, he now wields two Keyblades, one light and one dark.
Roxas arrives in the Fragment Crossing area. There are Neoshadows here, but with Roxas's dual Keyblades, the foes will fall swiftly. Near the end of this area, Roxas will find the mission's Ordeal Badge and Ordeal Blazon.
In the next area, Memory's Skyscraper, Roxas will be surrounded by Neoshadows. They will be easily defeated with the two Keyblades. In the air above the front entrance of the skyscraper, Roxas will find the mission's Unity Badge.
When the foes are dead, Roxas will notice the impostor at the top of the skyscraper. It's Riku! Roxas throws the dark Keyblade at Riku in attack. When Riku catches it, he sees scenes of Xion. The two take out the Neoshadows that surround them. Then, they turn on each other.
Riku tries to convince Roxas that attempting to liberate Kingdom Hearts is a suicide mission, but Roxas is not dissuaded. Looks like he has to get past Riku. No matter what, Roxas will always wield the Oathkeeper Keyblade during this fight.
During the first part of the battle, Riku is not too difficult. He has a three-blow combo followed by a dash attack. The whole combo is pretty weak. Another attack is his Dark Shield. Riku will create a shield to protect himself from frontal attacks. If Roxas hits the barrier, Riku can counter for a great deal of damage. However, while Riku is standing still, Roxas can swing around behind him and hit him in the back.
Another attack is Riku's Dark Firaga. This attack is a homing fireball. This fireball can be blocked. Riku also has a teleport attack, where he jumps into the air and teleports towards Roxas three times, creating a shockwave each time. Glide can avoid this pretty easily.
During the first part of the battle, it is fairly safe to try to hack and slash Riku. About halfway through, Riku will charge his weapon, which strengthens his attacks. Ouch. Furthermore, it will give him a nasty new attack, Dark Aura. You may remember this killer attack from the original Kingdom Hearts. Riku will charge up and do numerous teleporting dash attacks around Roxas before performing a large aura attack. This can be evaded with gliding and dodge rolling.
During the second phase of the battle, it is harder and more dangerous to go after Riku. However, he is not nearly as tough as he is during Kingdom Hearts. In my opinion, Xion was the real final boss. Still, it's always fun to fight Riku.
In the scenes that play out, Roxas denies vehemently that he is anyone other than himself. A voice compels Riku to stop Roxas before it is too late. Riku takes the one road open to him, which explains his form during much of Kingdom Hearts II.
Then, DiZ appears to take Roxas away. He doubts that Roxas truly felt anything. Then, Roxas hears some final words from Xion.
The next day is Day 359, "The First Day." We see the opening scene from Kingdom Hearts II, where Roxas wakes up in his room in Twilight Town. He has just had another dream. Finally, he is on his way to meet Pence, Hayner, and Olette in their lair Under the Tracks. Summer vacation will be over in just seven days... which, by my math, will be Day 365...
Then, the game's final credits play. At the very end, you will be able to save your game. This will allow you to access post-game content.
Thank you for watching!
