Zelda: Ocarina of Time MQ Playthrough #083, Ganon's Tower, Boss: Ganondorf
This is video #083 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest. It is finally time to climb Ganon's Tower and face Ganondorf. In the first room of Ganon's Tower, there are a bunch of Fire Keese. There is not much point to fighting them; I like to just run upstairs and go through the door.
In the next room, Link will face a couple of Dinolfos. These buggers should not present much trouble at this point. When they are dead, Link goes through the next door and climbs the stairs.
In the room upstairs, a circle of fire protects a chest in the middle of the room. Worse, a couple of Stalfos will attack Link here. Be careful of that fire in the middle of the room while fighting them. When they are dead, Link can collect the Boss Key from the chest.
Upstairs, there are not one but two Iron Knuckles to face. Fortunately, it is fairly easy to face one at a time. Just hit one with an arrow or a bomb to provoke it. I actually find these things easier than Stalfos.
When the Iron Knucles are gone, Link can proceed upstairs and through the boss door. The organ music is growing louder now. After going through another room and climbing a set of stairs lined with red carpet, Link finally reaches Ganondorf's ghoulish inner sanctum. Zelda is still trapped in a crystal, and Ganondorf is playing his organ. All the parts of the Triforce resonate, and Link's health is restored.
Ganondorf demands that Link and Zelda turn over their parts of the Triforce. Of course, that isn't going to happen.
In the battle against Ganondorf, the villain will emit such powerful darkness that Navi will not be able to target him. The yellowish blocks around the room are not safe to stand on, only the central pillar and the pillars at each corner of the room. Ganondorf will shoot balls of energy at Link, much like Agahnim during A Link to the Past and Phantom Ganon. The aim is to bat these energy balls back at Ganondorf. Sometimes, it can go on for several volleys. When Ganondorf takes a hit, Link must quickly shoot him with a Light Arrow to stun him. Then, while Ganondorf is stunned, Link can jump across and smack him with either the Master Sword or Biggoron's Sword.
As the battle goes on, instead of the energy ball, Ganondorf may raise his hands above his head and conjure a massive ball of energy. If he pulls off this spell and it hits Link, it will hurt a lot. However, while he is doing this, Link can stun him pretty easily with a Light Arrow.
When the battle is over, Ganondorf destroys the walls around the room and then collapses. Then, Zelda is released from her crystal prison. Unfortunately, the tower begins to collapse. Link and Zelda have only three minutes to escape before it goes down. All through the escape, debris will fall. If Link touches it, he will take damage.
The pair will first go down a walkway along the outside of the castle to a gate that Zelda will open with her magic. They will be in the room below Ganondorf's throne room. Be careful of the smoldering debris here. Zelda will open up another door, which leads to another exterior walkway. The next door will lead to the chamber where Link fought the Iron Knuckles. Link should follow Zelda as closely as possible to avoid the debris.
After another exterior walkway, the pair will arrive in the room where Link fought the Stalfos. Unfortunately, the Stalfos have returned to life! They trap Zelda in a fiery barrier, and Link must defeat them again to free her. Time is limited here, so I like to use Nayru's Love here to make Link invincible, then hack and slash the enemies with Biggoron's Sword. It's not elegant, but it works. When she is released, Zelda opens the route forward.
After another exterior walkway, the pair will go through the room where Link fought the Dinolfos. The debris here can be a bit hard to avoid. Then, the pair will go down a debris-strewn walkway.
On the bridge beyond, hug the right-hand wall. A ReDead will attack and freeze Link with its gaze, but if Link is at the right-hand wall, he will come out of the trance long before the ReDead reaches him. Finally, after the pair climbs a debris-strewn stairway, they will emerge outside.
Ganon's Castle will collapse in epic fashion. Goodbye, Ganondorf! (I wish...)
Thanks for watching!
