Zelda: Ocarina of Time MQ Playthrough #082, Ganon's Castle (3/3), Shadow & Light Barriers
This is video #082 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest. In his efforts to dispel the barrier around Ganon's Tower, Link next explores the Shadow Temple-themed rooms in Ganon's Castle. More confounded Silver Rupees to collect. Shooting a bomb on the small platform to the right causes a treasure chest to drop onto the platform to the left. It contains a bundle of arrows, but its true value is as a Hookshot target. From here, Link will be able to use the Hover Boots to reach an invisible moving platform, which the Lens of Truth will illuminate. While on the platform, he can grab a Silver Rupee. When the platform is at the right side of the room, Link can hover to the platform with the bomb flower, where another Silver Rupee is located.
Then, Link can get to the large central platform in the room. After disposing of the Beamos, he can collect the third Silver Rupee. Then, he can light a torch in the floor to reveal a small platform between this large platform and the next. When both Beamos have been blasted, another Silver Rupee can be collected.
On the left side of the platform, an invisible path leads to the upper left platform, where another Beamos guards a Silver Rupee. Shooting the eye switch on the north side of the central platform drops a small chest containing another Small Key onto the northern platform. To the northeast, an invisible platform leads to the final Silver Rupee, but that guillotine is quite a wrinkle. Wait until the guillotine has gone up far enough, or it will block Link from jumping across.
The Shadow Barrier is in the room beyond. When Link shoots it with a Light Arrow, it is dispelled, and Impa teleports Link back to the main hall.
Finally, Links head to the rooms leading to the Light Barrier. This set of rooms is actually blocked off by a boulder that can only be picked up with the Golden Gauntlets. You should have at least two Small Keys before attempting this area. In the first room, there are a couple of Torch Slugs, and a Dinolfos to exterminate. Killing them unbars the door leading forward.
In the next room, playing Zelda's Lullaby above the Triforce mark causes a chest to appear in the room. This just contains a Recovery Heart. The locked door leads to the next room, where a couple of boulders are rolling around the circular room. A Beamos is sitting on top of the central platform. There are also fire walls blocking off some passages.
Past the locked door to the north, it looks like a barrier room, but it is not. To the left, Link will have to eradicate a Skullwalltula. Then, he will have to strike the right-hand torch to lower a barrier blocking the walk-through wall.
The actual Light Barrier is in the room beyond. Here, Link can dispel the barrier as before by shooting it with a Light Arrow. Rauru will return Link to the main hall.
Now that all the individual barriers are dispelled, the main barrier around the central tower disappears in an interesting scene.
Before he attempts Ganon's Tower, Link leaves the castle and stocks up on supplies.
Thanks for watching!
