Black ops 1 was released on November 9, 2010, which is over a decade ago. Did the base game of Black Ops 1 age like fine wine? Or is it something we should leave in the past? I decided to dust off the good old PS3 and find out. But I think you already know the answer to this. Anyways, let's get right into it.

Starting off with the UI Menu. This has to be one of, if not the best UI Menu in Call of Duty history. It's simple, yet unique. For example, when you boot up the menu, you're greeted with 4 Options. Campaign, Multi-player, Zombies, and options.

However, if you click the bumper buttons, you are able to break out of the chair and move around. You're also able to interact with a computer and enter codes to unlock additional Zombie maps. More on zombies later. Let's get into the campaign.

Blacks ops 1 campaign sees you playing as Alex Mason, alongside Woods, Hudson, Bowman, and of course Victor Reznov. The campaign opens up during the bay of pig's invasion in Cuba. Where you fight your way through Fidel Castros compound in order to assassinate him. After fighting your way into Castros room. He takes a hostage, and you pull of a perfect headshot to take him out. Or so you think, in reality, you just so happened to shoot his body double and the real Castro is alive and well. You end up getting captured by Dragovich and Kravchenko. With the help of Dr. Steiner, Alex Manson is then brain washed in order to become a sleeper agent for the Russians as they attempt to launch an attack on the US.

After replaying the Black Ops 1 Campaign, I was fully immersed in the experience. Black Ops 1 has so many memorable moments such as the prison escape, meeting JFK for the first time, the rat tunnels in Vietnam and much more.

If you haven't played the black ops 1 campaign, you are missing out in such a great story and i highly recommend it. At the end of the campaign, you are greeted to a cut scene featuring JFK having a meeting until there are interrupted by... zombies.

At Launch you had 3 unique zombie maps. Kino de Toten, Five, and Dead ops arcade.

Starting off with Kino, Kino is set in a German theater controlled by the nazi. This was a great zombie map for pros and beginners, especially for people who don't know the ins and outs of Zombies. Kino has multi training spots, a teleporter that will instantaneously transport you to pack a punch (no complicated steps needed by the way), and 5 perks to choose from. It was simple. Upgrade your guns, buy perks, and see how long you can survive. Just a fantastic map.

Five on the other hand, is a zombie map tailored toward the more hard-core zombie player. Five is set at the US Pentagon and focuses more on close combat. Not only did you have to deal with the zombies, you also had to deal with the Doctor who will take your weapon if you're not careful.

Lastly, you had dead ops arcade. Which is a top-down style zombie map. All 3 zombie maps are great and adds replay ability to the game

Finally, let's talk about the multi-player. No microtransactions, no heavy skill base match making, and no disbanding lobbies. Just pure fun. Black Ops 1 introduced us to iconic game modes and maps such as NukeTown, Firing-range, summit, one in the chamber, gun game, stick and stones. Black Ops 1 also introduced CoD Points, but not the CoD points you think. These CoD Points can only be gained by playing the game. After each match, you will receive some CoD Points. And you were able to use these CoD points to unlock Guns, Camo, and Killstreaks. You also had map voting, red dots on the mini map, and my all-time favorite feature in CoD, Pro Perks.

After playing Call of Duty Black Ops, I will have to say this game 100% holds up today. With a great campaign, Zombies mode, and multi-player. I have to rate Call of Duty Black Ops 83 out of 100. It's a must buy Call of Duty. Does it really get any better than this?
