Super Mario Bros Wonder was released on October 20th, 2023, by Nintendo and my goodness. This has to be the best 2D Mario I’ve ever played. Not only does this game have over 100 different levels to enjoy from, It also has a new game mechanic known as the wonder flower. The wonder flower is introduced in the very beginning and once collected, the entire level transforms. Every time you collect a wonder flower, you never know what's going to happen. One minute you're playing normally, and the next minute you're flying in space, or walking on walls. This game is just amazing.

Another new addition to the game is Badges. There are a total of 24 badges in the game and each badge represents a unique ability. You have The Parachute Cap Badge which allows you to float slowly downward. If that's not your cup of tea maybe you want to try the Grappling Vine badge, which practically turns you into spider man. With this badge, while in the air you're able to launch a vine that can grab onto a wall. These badges add replay ability to the game and lets you, the player, choose how you want to go along completing the game.

With that said, Super Mario Bros Wonder also introduces new power-ups never seen before such as the Elephant Fruit and the Bubble Flower. The elephant powerup is by far my most used power up. It does just that. Turns you into an elephant. The bubble Flower allows you to blow bubbles to defeat enemies or you can choose to jump on them. You also see the return in classic power up such as the Fire Flower and the drill mushroom. The drill Mushroom reminds me of the spin drill from super mario galaxy 2.

Super Mario Bros Wonder allows you to play with up to 4 people and you have quite the variety of characters to choose from. You can play as either Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Yoshi’s, and Nabbit. Keep in mind if you play as any of the Yoshi’s or Nabbit, they won't take damage. That would be more as your easy mode characters.

This game has a wide variety of different levels and I enjoyed practically all of them, some more than others. I'm looking at you Search Party. The level design in super Mario bros wonder for the most part is fantastic. You have unique enemies new to the series along with returning enemies. Bowser is now a castle for whatever reason, and it just works. Throughout each world you complete you receive a Royal Seed. Once you’ve collected all the royal seeds you are able to battle Bowser. Bowser is not a very difficult boss fight, but then again, when has he been. However, once he’s defeated, Spoiler warning ... .3, 2, 1, once bowsers defeat you unlock the Special World. This actually led me to 100% the game. I went back to collect all 10 coins, all wonder seeds, touch the top of the flagpole on each level, find every secret exits, and purchase all of the standees in the game. The final Level of this game, called, “The Final-Final Test Badge Marathon.” Almost made me snap my pro-controller in half. Specifically, two sections. The spring Feet section, and the invisibility section. Why, just why did Nintendo think it was a good idea to make Mario invisible. This level alone took me, no joke, about 2 hours to complete. Maybe that's because I suck. Who knows, what I do know is I eventually completed it and 100 % the game.

Which leads me to my rating. I would have to rate Super Mario Bros Wonder a 94/100. This is a must own Mario title for the Nintendo switch. I haven't had this much fun in a 2D Mario in quite some time. If you agreed or disagreed with my rating, please let me know in the comment section below. I'm FGB and thanks for watching.
