The Fortress of Galbaraz - Tomb Kings Steel Faith Vortex Campaign Part 3
13Welcome everyone to Total War Warhammer II, along with the Steel Faith Overhaul 2 and the Vortex Campaign Custom Maps mods. Steel Faith is a major overhaul mod that rebalances units, buildings, garrisons, and all sorts of details across the entire game, and VCCM is a collection of community-created battle maps that continues to update over time - links to both mods in the Steam Workshop are below. In this campaign we play as Settra the Imperishable as he seeks to find the lost books of Nagash while the Vortex is disrupted. Summaries of each session will be below, as will time stamps for the beginnings of battles.
In part 3 we focus our efforts on ending the greenskin threat, culminating in our assault on the fortress city of Galbaraz, while defending our territory from rebels and pretenders. We begin by recruiting King Wakhaf of the First Dynasty to build a second army around while Settra easily conquers the iron mines at Gor Gazan. As Settra prepares to assault Galbaraz, Wakhaf's burgeoning forces crush a small rebellion near Khemri to restore order. A small force of marauding elves is invited to declare against us, but makes no aggressive moves, leaving them a low priority. Once his siege towers are constructed, Settra's army begins its assault on Galbaraz - which turns out to be a dark elf fortress with defenses far more potent than we expected. Smorbitz Toof-Taka's defenders put up a vicious battle that inflicts devastating losses on Settra's army, but in the end we manage to push through and conquer the citadel. With the Top Knotz destroyed, our eastern flank is fairly secure and our attention turns west just as King Sekhtasfih of the Followers of Nagash arrives on our border. Sekhtasfih's forces conquer the Pools of Despair, though our garrison manages to inflict notable losses before falling, and remain there as both Settra and Wakhaf approach. Caught in a pincer between the two armies, Sekhtasfih tries to charge Settra's forces to break free, but fails - the army is destroyed and the session ends with the Pools of Despair being reclaimed by us.
