- Analysis:
His C2 EX is strong, but nearly impossible to execute safely because the start up has no range, no means of crowd control and it is stationary. So unfortunately, Technique is a waste on him (and to like 90% of Technique characters, because Technique type just suck in general).
Damage wise, his Air R1 is nearly as strong as Ranmaru Mori and Sakon Shima's Air R1, but Sima Shi's Air R1 is too lengthy for that kind of damage output. But he has no choice. The good news about his Air R1 is that it has no air penalty at all. With this setup after Aggression, he needs a full hit Air R1 to OHKO generics.
Burst combo generating is what Sima Shi can do well. Find a dense enough crowd and his Air R1 should get him enough, if not, close to 200 combos. Chronos is mandatory because his combo duration is very short.
JC-R1 is a good combo to kill generics when he does not have Aggression. After R1 of JC-R1, his recovery is exploitable. Dragon's Eye is there to cancel JC because his Heavenly Sash will only get him killed more easily in combat peon stages. With it, he can conveniently transition JC-Dragon's Eye-Air R1, which is a safe alternative, while crowd clearing and combo generating.
Overall, still a good character. His only real problem is damage output. Defensively, all of his moves can be cancelled with Dragon's Eye and have nice transitions. He has self Impact and can crowd clear pretty well, so that's a plus as well. His Air R1 recovery may seem 'bad' because he is posing, but during all that animation, he is actually still invulnerable and archers would have already shot their arrows.
If only he retained his Dynasty Warriors 8 moveset + elemental activations then Technique wouldn't have been so bad on him.
