- Analysis:
To me, Yoshihiro Shimazu ... is pretty standard and boring to play as. But, he has been pretty consistently good in Warriors Orochi games and this one as well.
His R1 packs an element, and a good one at that. He is pretty good at crowd clearing and against multiple officers as well. His C1 also packs one element with similar animation as his R1, except that he does not dash forward.
Similar to Ginchiyo Tachibana, it is (nearly) impossible to OHKO generics at higher star stages unless he conjunctions C1-R1 in his offense. One C1-R1 offense can kill everything in the Free Mode, including super buff Kotaro Fuma in Ninjas United!
Unfortunately, his weapon has no space for Courage. Echo damage output is much greater than Courage, therefore it is replaced. C1 has a pretty good chance of freezing officers because C1 mechanic does not lift enemies. After they freeze, Echo comes into play. His initial R1 dash can and will skew frozen officers to smithereens. It is really strong to the point it rivals or outdamage his elemental damage. Essentially, his damage output against frozen enemies with C1-R1 is stronger or equivalent to 3 of his R1s within a smaller time frame.
His C1 is riskier to use than Ginchiyo Tachibana, but more rewarding. He should rarely die even if he does this because of the partner build and C1-R1 will transition him into invincible frames. Know when to use C1, don't use it if it will jeopardize him. Fall back to R1 spam if this is the case.

Echo, Windslay, Flamebolt*, Absorption, Osmosis, Agility, Frenzy, Blast
- Partners:
Hanzo Hattori, Xiahou Yuan, or Huang Zhong
- Items:
Fleet Mail, Messenger's Garb, Amulet of Protection, Tengjia Armor, Musou Armor, Lion's Fang*
With this setup, a full-hit R1 (this includes every Echo dash hit of his initial R1 + ground pound; very difficult to pull off) can OHKO generics. The only drawback with R1 playstyle is that he cannot freeze enemies anymore because he will be constantly lifting enemies, therefore Flamebolt replaces Icebolt. Lion's Fang and the new partner setup will further increase his damage output on the initial dash of his R1. In exchange, he drops his defense, but he should be invulnerable more than half of the time because of R1 spamming.
It doesn't matter which of the two builds Yoshihiro goes for, he is still a very solid character. With self-Stamina + able to abuse it well, self-sustainable offense and defense through Absorption and Osmosis, and max Attack and Defense through partner building (Muneshige Tachibana and Gan Ning), he is pretty much unstoppable in standard gameplay unless he brainfarts. Only thing is that, he is really boring to play as ...
