- Zhuge Dan
This would be the game that the 'dog' has its day. Zhuge Dan actually finds himself sitting pretty comfortably high up this time because he is actually good in this game, but that heavily depends on the player.
For maximization outside of Gauntlet Mode, Bastion is largely unnecessary and should be replaced with Agility. His R1 tornado has a very good radius and should rarely if not, never get poked by peons or ninjas in regular gameplay, thus making Bastion relatively useless and Zhuge Dan a very safe character. No Free Mode stages swarms the players with archers, gunmen or sorcerers, so it is beneficial to take out Bastion for Agility. If he has Agility, he is able to clear this stage much faster.
Zhuge Dan is able to stack 2~3 R1 tornadoes (before it runs out of effectiveness ratio to its duration). Sometimes the tornado animation will not display properly, but the SFX of the tornado will help indicate if the tornado persists or not.
Important: Be very careful at where he is casting R1 because his tornado will not activate or disappear if he is near stationary (breakable) objects (example at 01:37).
Tip: His R1 will bounce enemies around, but that can be easily remedied 100% by playing with he zoomed in map on the top right corner (yes, this map is very important)! This will take the anticipation away of where the officer will bounce to.
Zhuge Dan's R1 playstyle is very Musou expensive if played recklessly (or early game when his Musou is not +999 yet; I recommend that he use C3 EX elemental weapon setup before he is fully maximized). By stacking multiple R1s, he is actually hitting multiple times per hit with the tornado and Echo. And if he has Agility, it becomes even easier (I do not have Agility in this video). By slightly tilting the analog, he can briefly juggle dead bodies and save other crowds around him for more combo generating opportunities. If he recklessly runs around for combo generating, then he will find himself running out of peons quickly. His performance is very crowd dependent for sure, but still possible when maintained carefully.
- Note:
Zhuge Dan is pretty difficult to play as, as his learning curve is (in my opinion) somewhat steep. Player will need to know and keep in mind how to use the crowds around Zhuge Dan, know when and how to stack minimum amounts of tornadoes for kills, know how long & when to cast tornadoes (so he does not cast excessively) and be able to maintain his Musou without a problem. Otherwise, Zhuge Dan will suck.
