125Kiryu passionately bellowed out the final line on the karaoke screen and held a pose for all of the audience to admire. He was received with cheer and applause! Even Nishki couldn't help but give a standing ovation. Kiryu, stepped from the stage and returned to the bar to casually finish his drink.
"And here I was thinking you were all serious and macho! You've got a beautiful singing voice Kiryu!"
Kiryu donned his deep brow wrinkles once more, though secrelty appreciated the compliment.
"Don't be stupid, you were the one who said you wanted to go all out tonight."
Nishki laughed.
"You're right! Hey I took the liberty of ordering some food for us while you were serenading the crowd."
Sure enough two large beef bowls loaded with ramen steamed in front of them. Kiryu didn't hesistate in breaking his chopsticks and going to work. After all, entertaining is hungry work.
As the two scoffed the way through what would be considered breakfast at this hour, the bartender was asked to turn up the TV that was broadcasting the news in the local area. The atmosphere of the bar grew silent and attentive as the reporter delivered the latest.
"Police have revealed that earlier tonight, a badly beaten man's body was found in the alleys of Kamarucho. Police are treating the case as a homicide..."
Nishki, the more observant of the two, lost his grin in hearing the news and looked to Kiryu.
"Hey! Hey Kiryu!"
The dragon was busy polishing his bowl and answered with a muffled 'hmm?'
"look at the TV! There's been a murder in Kamarucho! Didn't you say you were working on collecting a debt earlier?"
Kiryu put down his bowl and turned to look at the TV. His eyes sharpened and his heart jumped at seeing the drunk gambler's face on the screen with the word "MURDERED" boldy typed underneath. Before he could even conjure a thought to react with, his pager beeped. He knew exactly who was calling him and would rather do anything than receive that call.
