209The drunkard's vision blurred the gangster towering in front of him. Not from the drink but from the barrage of abuse he had just endured to end up in some back alley, lying in a puddle.
"Please... Stop!"
The looming figure remained silent, staring at what had to be a pathetic and helpless sight. The streets of Kamarucho were lively with the sound of bustling city night life. Women giggled at the drunken advances of men. Arcades blitzed with the sound of numerous games and clubs boomed with the muffled bass of the lastest dance tracks. The city was alive but in this forgotten hole, this back alley, it was quiet, secluded. Nothing mattered other than the outstanding debt this man had and the collector who came to do exactly what his titled implied.
"P-please I-"
Before the man could finish the seemingly patient figure slammed his foot in to the drunk's face, interrupting what ever excuse he no doubt parroted a hundred times to previous collectors. The busted gambler writhed in pain as even more teeth escaped his mouth. The collector paced up to him and broke his silence.
"You aren't going to survive here."
The drunkard's vision sharpened at the sound of his voice for a moment. The collector donned a cheap suit but from his imposing posture, wore it with pride. His brow seemed to permanently furrowed as deep wrinkles cut his youthful complexion. He was clearly a Yakuza.
"A mouth and a wallet as big as yours isn't cut out for Kamarucho."
The gambler began to slip out of conciousnessand limped further in to the puddle. The gangster swiped his wallet and pulled out whatever money was inside before dropping it on to the drunks face and leaving him with a hangover he won't soon forget.
